VICTOR lin from China, ACIC Student, 2011

The Dream

To successfully obtain a degree from a top Australian university.

The Difficulties

Victor (Silong) Lin came to Australia at a young age and started from high school studies in Australia.

The Process

Victor first approached ACIC for advice in 2007 during his high school studies. He was determined to study at UNSW and his ACIC counselor Nalumi helped him on a pathway to reach his goal.

Firstly, Nalumi successfully assisted Victor to enrol into UNSWs foundation course. After one year of studies, Victor progressed to study the Bachelor of Commerce at UNSW. Throughout this time, Nalumi has kept in touch with Victor about his studies and has also helped him to apply for visa extension in Australia.

The Outcome

Victor will graduate from UNSW by the end of 2011. More significantly, he will be awarded the Dean's Award for Academic Excellence in Australian School of Business. These awards are given to undergraduate students studying in an Australian School of Business program who have achieved an overall average mark in the top 5% of their cohort - an outstanding achievement!

THE Comment from the Student

Hi Nalumi, I'm Victor (Silong Lin)...You helped me to apply UNSW foundation in 2008, I started uni in 2009 and graduate at the end of this year. I have a very good news to share with you and appreciate you helped me to deal with those visa staff before. I get a Dean's Award for Academic Excellence in Australian School of Business. My name will also be publish on Sydney Morning Herald later. I'm really happy and that's the milestone in my Australian education life.
