Orientation for New Arrivals

On your first visit to ACIC's head office, you will be introduced to one of our counsellors who will be assigned to look after you throughout your studies in Australia.

Settling in and getting organised
During the first few weeks in Australia, many students find it hard to adapt to the new environment. You may struggle with a new language and have many things to organise. Your counsellor will help by taking you through a comprehensive Orientation which provides information on:

  • How to enroll at your school
  • How to open a bank account
  • How to apply for a Work Permit
  • How to find a doctor and apply for medical insurance
  • How to find a part-time job
  • How to find accommodation

Procedures and regulations

  • Your counsellor will answer any questions about your school, accommodation, transportation, finance, etc; lodge applications such as work permits with the immigration department on your behalf and help you solve any problems.
  • Your counsellor will also advise you on the regulations and policies of your school and the Australian government to ensure you are clear about what you can and cannot do.

The Orientation for new arrivals is specially designed to get you off to a good start in Australia.
