Latest Visa Updates
Following the Knight Review's recommendations on relaxing student visa policy, the Government has just annouced a series of visa updates that has come into effect from 5th November.
The key changes include:
i) Reduce financial requirements for Level 3 and Level 4
The evidence of funds for assessment level 4 will reduced from 36 to 24 months. If evidence is being presented as a cash deposit, the savings history is reduced from 6 to 3 months. For assessment level 3, it is reduced from 24 to 18 months.
ii) English other than IELTS accepted
English tests other than IELTS will be accepted for visa applications.
iii) No More PVA
There will be no more Pre-Visa Assessment (PVA) policy for assessment level 3 and level 4 students from outside Australia. Students can get a quicker visa by using their COEs to apply for e-visa.
iv) No IELTS requirement for English only studies
The IELTS requirement will be removed for Assessment Level 4 and Assessment Level 5 Independent ELICOS (subclass 570) visa applicants. This means students applying for English studies only will not be required to demonstrate minimum English language skills before applying for a visa.
